I am back! High School, Here I Come!

August 17, 2008 at 9:26 pm (School News, Uncategorized) (, , , )

The summer is wrapping up and school is opening again. This time, I will not be in Middle School, but High School. I have a very difficult course load and with all the buzz on difficulty in High School, this will be an extreme challenge. Those A+ grades will probably never come back. To add to the discomfort of High School, teachers are more strict and stern when it comes to forgetting something. Despite all those challenges, I am still looking forward to this year, but as with all first years in new schools, I might not enjoy it as much as I it want to. What schools are you attending soon? Are you having any issues? I having issues with my backpack, it is falling apart. I cannot wait to get back into school.

P.S. Are any of you watching the Olympics? Did you hear that 20 swim records were broken here? Michael Phelps also won 8 gold medals, a record number. Watch the Olympics and immerse yourself with great events. As Visa would say, Go World!

Etihad Orders Aircraft at Farnborough

July 14, 2008 at 9:49 am (Aviation Opinion, Aviation news, Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, today, ordered 45 Boeing Jets worth 9 billion, and 55 Airbus Jets. Etihad ordered 35 Boeing 787-9s and 10 Boeing 777-300ERs. They also ordered 25 Airbus A350-900s, 10 Airbus A380-800s, and 20 Airbus A320s. Wow!, that is a lot of aircraft. My question is, how are they going to use all those aircrafts? I still think the growth in the Middle East is unsustainable and they probably will not take delivery of all these aircrafts. But, as a Boeing and Bombardier Supporter, I am happy for Boeing for this large order.

We are starting science fiction in English. What do you think when you hear the term “Science Fiction”? Do you think of futuristic things, shiny and metal things? Post what you think Below.

The father of Sci-Fi is HG-Wells when he wrote the War of the World. Asimov wrote I, Robot. In class, we are reading I, Robot. Many of the inventions like artificial intelligence were invented based on the imagination of Isaac Asimov. Did you know that robots were not even invented before Asimov wrote I, Robot? Anyway, what books have you read on the genre of Science Fiction? What movies?

What do You think about Emirates Expansion Plan?

May 18, 2008 at 7:29 pm (Aviation Opinion, Uncategorized) (, , , , , )

Emirates Airline of the United Arab Emirates are one of the largest international and fastest growing airlines in the world. Last year, they ordered 120 Airbus A350XWBs. They also have 55 Airbus A380 Super Jumbo aircraft on order, and Tim Clark, the CEO of Emirates, said he would double that order if Dubai Airport could handle it. Is this growth sustainable? Do you think that all of those aircraft will be delivered? The oil prices are high right now and is Emirates growing a rate that will cripple the company? I think that part of the reason that they are growing so fast is because that they have the advantage of having an oil state backing the company. I do not think that the number of passengers they believe they will carry will ever materialize. They order plane after plane, and do no seem to evaluate the cause. By ordering these large amounts of aircraft, they are being smart with Boeing, but I believe 50% of the aircraft ordered might never be delivered. Sure Emirates Airline is raking in extra profits, but compared to Singapore Airlines, which has a smaller fleet of aircraft, they make nearly the same. Why? Emirates, which has a much larger fleet should be able to earn more, right? Yeah, but not by much. Emirates is depending on tourism to rise, but as ticket prices rise, more and more people are staying home and not traveling by plane. I hope the numbers Emirates needs will materialize, but it seems very unlikely that the Middle East can generate that much tourism. What do you think? Please Comment
